Great game. I love the twist you put to the damsel in distress. That in itself made me want to play and beat the game regardless of the game play.

Story: 3.00/5.00
The concept is great, as I mentioned before, but the story telling itself could use a little work. I understand that you were just testing this sort of game out though, so it's forgivable, but if you have time, make the next one better!

Graphics: 4.00/5.00
I'm not a huge fan of pixel art so that's why I'm not giving you a perfect 5, but as far as pixels go, it's great and everything is well made.

Gameplay: 3.50/5.00

Down to the core issue then. The game is too fast paced. Even the tutorial, which is generally slow, is too fast. Your tossed into the fray almost immediately, and while there is no penalty for losing a round, allowing you to restart as many times as you want, it's a little inconvenient. Now I'm not saying the sense of urgency is bad. It kept me on my toes, in fact, but you're tossed too suddenly into the wave. Perhaps if there's a countdown of five to ten seconds that allows you to place your traps before the enemies hurry in it would improve the game. It would allow better planning and leave you to your devices while the horde of unsuspecting heroes comes after you.

The diversity of enemies and traps was limited, but that again is forgivable as you've mentioned it's your first time stepping out of your comfort zone.

Level design was fairly limited as well. The only things that really varied were the slope lengths. The limited trap selection did up the difficulty level though so that was a nice touch.

Overall Score: 3.50/5.00

The story was originally supposed to be much deeper and about how she even got her blood powers and lost her mind in the first place, but I had to cut lots of originally planned stuff to get the game done for LD in time. But I might explore the original story in some kind of prequel game.

You are right about the quick pace, next time I might add a time counter for the waves and a button to summon enemies early if you have finished setting up defenses.

This is what Ludum Dare games often are, good bases to start building more refined and polished games on.

This game grants me happiness. Great humor and twisted sense of logic. Cuboy is a bit of an enigma to me, but he is definitely a funny one. It has plenty of minigames which is always a bonus and everything thing was voice driven so it made the experience that much more enjoyable. So many things to do and people to speak to.

If I had to be annoyed about anything it was the "world" map music was much louder than inside the smaller maps(city, forest, coliseum, etc). The gladiator game became easier with each new enemy as well. The Hades' game was not difficult either and for the person complaining about the flag "glitch", I'm sort of guessing that rather than it being a it was not a glitch, but rather part of the rules of the game. It increased t he challenge a bit although ultimately it was easy. Only game that gave me trouble was the Cupid game. I'm terrible with memorization.

EdibleCastle responds:

The cupid game does have a pattern, which you will no doubt pick up if you have to play it as many times as I have. I'm also very bad at that one!

Yes!

Love you for making the sequel! Don't stop creating them.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks for the kind words!

I don't really enjoy brain busting games

But I have a tendency of finishing a game I've started so I just HAD to finish this one. I liked the concept and it's executed quite nicely. There's just one thing I'd like to mention though. On the last tundra level, there are four blocks of ice(three 1x1 and one 2x2) on the very top left corner that are a little annoying to manipulate. Your intention was to have the the 2x2 block be pushed by the other three so they go over the edge, but the problem lies in pushing the last block(a 1x1).

There are technically three ways in to move those blocks:
->(a)
->(b)
__^(c)

You can push the 2x2 block and two 1x1 blocks with the a arrow. No matter how you push them though, there's always one block left that needs to be pushed by the b arrow. Therein lies the problem. When you hover your mouse in that little corner it ONLY lets you use the C arrow, which is quite useless since that only brings the block up and there's no way to push it down. The only way I was able to beat it was by frustratingly clicking the little corner until the b arrow finally decided to work. That was the only quirk for me. A possible solution would be to make the A arrow ungrowable ground so it doesn't show up as an option when you hover the plant thing on it.

I don't know if I made myself clear, but, great game otherwise. Not my preferred genre though.

One pushes them all up and shatters the three small blocks, one push

AethosGames responds:

That particular puzzle works by blocking the c arrow by growing the a arrow first. That will make the c unable to grow and make b the only option. Thanks for playing :)

Loved it just as much as I loved the AiD games.

It's a great twist to a story we've all grown up with. I've recently become a fan of these point and click games and I'm hoping you'll release more in the near future. The only problem I had with this was searching for the tonic ingredients. I had to do a bit of random clicking to find them, not that a real search wouldn't be randomly looking everywhere, but I thought it was a tiny bit annoying given that the search for the cricket was implemented perfectly. Great game!

Hyptosis responds:

Than you for the crit, I'll do better next time! :D

Very enjoyable game.

I'm not a huge fan of music based games, but I'm surprised at this one truly. I would like to drop a mild complaint though. On the "Native Faith" level, the game freezes on Round 13(2:38 on the music track). I can't seem to advance and it's a bit annoying. If you could fix that bug, it would be wonderful. Same issue happened with my brother. He used Firefox and I used Chrome.

FrozenFire responds:

If any song freezes after Throwing Fire it's all reliant on your internet connection speed. You basically caught up with the stream and that's where the music stops playing because it's not loaded yet. It's about 26 MB of music data. We will have a faster way to approach this by tomorrow! :)

You should revisit then!

I'd like to enjoy it, but can't.

Not sure what the problem was, but every time I found something and activate it, I never got the medal/achievement and the "Back to the Menu" button wouldn't work either.

JackSmack responds:

I have talked with ClydeArk and it seems that the FIrefox Ad Blocker was to blame for the issues. SO, if you are having similar trouble turn off your ad blocker and try the game.

Epic Win

I would like to award the internet to you.

Also, the guy that did the voice acting is incredible! Hope you get your novel published if you ever write it!

Xplored responds:

I wrote it. Who knows...

Well....

I've never made a game myself so I wouldn't be able to tell you how hard it is, but let's see what I can say:

-Physics has been completely raped, and not in a good way. He falls down too fast after you fly and even the flying is a little strange in itself.
-Not a lot of point to the game, but starting out is usually like that.
-There isn't much recognition between the character and the floor so he kind of goes through.

Eh that's all I can really say.

ChickenTechno responds:

I had to put the Grav.speed=-2 because he wouldve died to easily and it would be too hard like it already is XD There is no point to the game really just trying to go through tough levels :) thanks for the advice I will surely try to fix it though.

Hey there! I'm a writer at heart, and do graphic design on the side. If you're interested or need some help on about anything drop me a note, I'd love to help. Pandas rule.
